How fantasy standings are decided
On the fantasy league page, the Standings choice sets what each team's keepsake shows beside its name and logo:
- No standings: nothing else
- Regular season: its record and its regular-season standing
- Playoffs: its playoff finish
No standings
The art shows each team's name and logo only: no record, no place, no champion or last-place label.
Regular season
Standings follow regular-season W-L-T records. Playoff games don't count.
Playoffs
Standings follow your league's playoff results: the champion is the winner of the final, and the other playoff places come from the placement games.
The Playoffs option becomes available once your season is complete.
Teams that missed the playoffs: toilet bowl or consolation?
Sleeper lets a league run one of two brackets for the teams that missed the playoffs. They work in opposite directions, and your keepsakes follow the one your league chose.
- Toilet bowl. Here the team with fewer points moves on, toward last place. Winning a toilet bowl game moves you away from last place, and losing moves you toward it. The two teams that lose their way to the toilet bowl final, which Sleeper labels "Last Place", play for the bottom spot, and the one with fewer points finishes last in the league. Teams that win their way out play each other for the places above.
- Consolation bracket. It works like the playoffs: the team with more points moves on, and the winner is the best team outside the playoffs. The other consolation teams place below it.
For example, in a toilet bowl game that ends 112 to 95, the team with 95 moves on toward last place, and the team with 112 plays for a higher place. In a consolation game with the same score, the team with 112 moves on toward the best non-playoff finish, and the team with 95 plays for a lower place.
Teams without a bracket result
A playoff team without a placement game (it happens with an odd number of playoff teams) takes the next place down after the placed playoff teams, by regular-season record.
A team that missed the playoffs and has no place in the toilet bowl or consolation bracket (the bracket leaves it out, or an odd-sized bracket gives it no placement game) ranks by regular-season record. In a toilet bowl league it places above the toilet bowl teams. In a consolation league it places below the consolation teams.
Leagues without playoffs
Regular-season standings are the final standings, and the Playoffs option isn't offered.
